The defibrillator sign takes full advantage of graphics to inform its audience: anyone who has been trained to use the equipment and taught how to locate it.
The lighting symbol inside the heart shape makes it easer for people to understand what that is and very unique so people will not confuse it with something else such as a fire alarm for instance.
