Certain airports that are located at much higher altitudes above sea level or in farther North areas where the weather is colder require adjustments to the minimum altitudes that apply to the approach itself. These airports are indicated by a snowflake in a black box in the same area where the symbols for non-standard takeoff and alternate minimums can be found.
